The E-Invoicing MonsterFamilyOffice & tech

E-invoicing without the headache.

Since 2025, businesses in Germany have had to be able to receive e-invoices – and gradually send them too. An e-invoice isn't simply a PDF, but a file with structured data that programs can read: XRechnung or ZUGFeRD. Sounds like bureaucracy, but with the right workflow it's actually more of a relief. The E-Invoicing Monster sets it up with you: from the mailbox to reading and checking, through to filing and your own invoicing software. What applies for tax purposes is something you clarify with your tax adviser – we take care of the tech.

XRechnung, ZUGFeRD, deadlines? I make sure invoices come in, go out and get filed properly.”

Questions

What most people want to know

Is a PDF sent by email an e-invoice?

No. An e-invoice under the new rules contains structured data that a program can read – such as XRechnung or ZUGFeRD. A normal PDF counts as an “other invoice”.

From when do I have to send e-invoices?

In Germany, transition periods for invoices between businesses run until the end of 2026, and for businesses with a previous-year turnover of no more than €800.000 until the end of 2027. Please clarify exactly what applies to you with your tax adviser – we don't provide tax or legal advice.

Do I need new software?

Not necessarily. Many invoicing programs can already handle e-invoices, Lexware Office for example. We check what you have and only add what's missing.

What's the difference from the Connect Monster and the Automation Monster?

The E-Invoicing Monster takes care of the e-invoice itself: formats, receiving, sending, filing. If your shop, accounting and other programs should then talk to each other automatically, the Connect and Automation Monsters join in.

Does this also apply in Austria and Switzerland?

Separate rules apply there, especially for invoices to public authorities. We're happy to set up the technology for that too – you clarify the obligations with your local tax adviser.
